Heejung hopes to leave Daegu and transfers to a university in Seoul. She works at a ticket office for paddle boats to save up for her tuition. One day while she dozes off, someone attempts suicide.

  • Review

Heejung, born and raised in Daegu, hopes to transfer to a college in Seoul. She sells tickets for duck-shaped boat riding at Suseongmot Lake to save up for college. She is shocked when an accident happened while she fell asleep. Afraid to take the blame, she tries to place a life jacket secretly but gets caught by Cha Youngmok.
Duck Town takes looks at the dark side of the young in their twenties through the subject of suicide. While it is a serious subject, the tone of the film is light, especially how the case is unfolded by somewhat naive protagonist, Heejung. Based on this, we see how much the director cares about his characters. The director hesitates to confront the frustration and lethargy of the young generation directly. Through pessimism carried by humor, the director, on the contrary, tries to embrace hope as much as possible. [KIM Youngjin]
