The young lion tamer Tairo is unhappy with his present life situation. He uses the loss of his talisman to make a trip through Italy searching for the man, who gave it to him a long time ago.

  • Review

Mister Universo by Documentary Director Tizza Covi and Rainer Frimmel is the story of a lion trainer who left his circus troupe looking for ‘Mister Universe.’ 20 year old Tyro grew up in a circus, but, fed up with the circus life, has only his girlfriend Wendy to give him comfort. To make matters worse, he loses his long-kept lucky charm, so he decides to go to Italy to find the man who gave it to him. Tyro’s journey starts off sad but gradually becomes uplifting. The anxious coexistence of documentary and fictional elements found here are just like the duo´s previous works The Shine of Day(2012) and The Little One(2009). The entire film is filled with an extreme realism until its climax, and its magical imagination is quite impressive. Shot entirely on film, it is dedicated to ‘those who lost jobs through digital work.’ [JANG Byungwon]
