In the wake of the ouster of Islamist president Morsi, a truck-full of detained demonstrators roam through protests. Can the detainees overcome their differences to stand a chance of survival?

  • Review

Mohamed Diab known for Cairo, 678(2010) brings Clash a story based on the political situation in Egypt. After the Egypt revolution, military coup during the citizen resistance movement, the story starts in a prisoner convoy. The detainees are there for different political & social reasons. Muslim Brotherhood supporters, a journalist, a nurse & her husband, and etc.; they all represent the current Egyptian society. They observe the mayhem outside the car, and the aura of disaster rises. When their tension burst out, anger, confusion, and humanity reveals. Clash dramatizes the confusion after the People´s Revolution that resulted the fall of the Mubarak government. The collision unfolds a cosmic story inside the confined space. This is a metaphoric allegory that depicts anxiety of the world filmed with handheld cameras. [JANG Byungwon]
