Milo hides behind his fascination with vampire lore. When he meets the equally alienated Sophie, the two form a bond that begins to challenge Milo’s dark obsession, blurring his fantasy into reality.

  • Review

Milo is an African-American boy fascinated of vampires. This Brooklyn teenager meets Sophie a girl who resembles his loneliness. As the relationship with Sophie deepens, Milo´s fantasy becomes a reality. Sophie later learns about his secret. Michael O´shea worked on the screenplay and directing. He combines teenpix and conventional vampire horror genre in his debut film The Transfiguration. O´shea extended his ultra-low-budget short film Milo(2014) to a feature film. Milo´s fascination with vampires is his way of dealing with isolation and bullying. The film explores the ways in which a desolate reality tragically affects a character´s life. He combines art movie style and the sensitivity of a genre film receiving a Un Certain Regard from Cannes Film Festival raising the topic of conversation. [JANG Byungwon]
