Every night, a girl, a boy and an old projectionist meet in a small cinema that seems abandoned but is full of wonders. The three friends invent, draw, disguise and become the heroes of wonderful tales.

The pioneer of silhouette animation Michel Ocelot´s new work shows a fantastic combination of fairytale and poetic images. Ivan Tsarevitch and the Changing Princess is a collection of 4 tales. Two youngsters find an old projector in a theater and produce these stories. The tales are made from their bizarre imagination. Legendary monsters, trees with golden fruit, wizards and pirates, kings and queens, cats, rats, and horses. Fantasy world characters appear one by one, and the screen is embellished with lavish ornaments and silhouette figures are like stained glass windows. Each image is perfection itself. Among the four stories, ‘Monster Lovers’ is a touching fable about children´s fear and ´Ivan Tsarevitch And the Changing Princess´ is a new version of a Russian folklore that shows a grief-stricken virgin becoming a hero.
