An arthritic Nova Scotia woman works as a housekeeper while she hones her skills as an artist and eventually becomes a beloved figure in the community.

  • Review

Maudie who lives in Nova Scotia, Canada suffers from arthritis. Despite her sick body, she works as a housekeeper at fishmonger Everett’s house. When Everett saw drawings of Maudie’s on Christmas cards and cookie wrappers, he was greatly impressed by her talent. Maudie receives full support from Everett and hones her talent. As time passes, she becomes the local’s favorite artist. There are already many books and documentaries about Maudie Lewis who has lived a simple life in her small home. Aisling Walsh casts Sally Hawkins and Ethan Hawke and captures the moments of joy. Her life was a little hard and exhausting, her work expresses great joy. Maudie Lewis’s work is a result of taking the suffering into festive event and shows the value of simple life. The two main characters sing this touching story in praise of life. [LEE Sang-yong]
