  • Review

A documentary about Ken Loach’s life and art, a man known as the ´Poet for the Blue-collar Workers.´ Produced by BBC, this dynamic film came out with the right timing, featuring his fascination of the world and his personality as an artist and a human. This film was introduced right after I, Daniel Blake(2016) won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival. In actuality, I, Daniel Blake is an integral part of this film. Another great surprise for Loach’s fans is the compilation of his early works. Even his heartbreaking work Cathy Come Home(1966) is included. The interviews of Loach’s early years at Oxford, and his friends at work help the audience understand the artist’s world. The film also touches on the tragic death of his 5 year-old son in a car accident. This is a film of conscience that faces pressing issues. [JANG Byungwon]
